Access to reliable web services has been identified as a critical factor in Ruapehu making the most of its economic and social growth opportunities. It is seen as a fundamental requirement in support of Ruapehu's key economic sectors notably tourism and agriculture.
In response Council has implemented free WIFI services. These are available along the main streets of Taumarunui, Ohakune, Raetihi, National Park and at the public libraries in each of these townships.
The following maps show optimal coverage areas in each of the townships. The free WIFI can be picked outside these areas however anyone requiring the strongest signal should be within a 90m radius (hotspot) of an aerial as denoted by the pink circles on the maps below.
