Ruapehu full service i-SITEs awarded TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence
The Taumarunui i-SITE Visitor Information Centre has been awarded a coveted Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor based on their consistently great reviews.
Ruapehu i-SITE Manager Kim Treen said that getting a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence was a big deal and an awesome result for an awesome team.
TripAdvisor is the largest travel site in the world with more than 315m members and over 500m reviews and opinions of travel related businesses and as such hugely influential, said Mrs Treen.
It is very rewarding for all the Ruapehu i-SITE team when one of the network is formally recognised like this.
Taumarunui i-SITE now joins the Ohakune i-SITE which has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence for the past two years.
Mrs Treen added that the success comes on top of steady revenue growth at the Taumarunui i-SITE over the past four years with sales this year up over 10% over the previous 12 months.
It should be noted that Ruapehu's other established i-SITE's in Ohakune and Whakapapa have also been performing well over the past year with Ohakune being one of Book-it's top ten sellers nationally, she said.
Ruapehu Mayor Don Cameron added his congratulations to Kim and the i-SITE teams for earning a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
Ruapehu has a number of comparative advantages in tourism and visitor services, however, Council recognizes that if we are going to convert these local advantages into growth and especially jobs we need to provide opportunities for established businesses to grow and new businesses to start and succeed.
Council's investment in Ruapehu's i-SITE network as well as Visit Ruapehu is a critical part of leveraging these opportunities.
The success of our full service i-SITE's earning a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is further evidence of the positive impact that ratepayer investment in i-SITEs is making to the Ruapehu economy, said Mayor Cameron.
