Ideas wanted for amenity lighting projects in Raetihi and Ohakune
The Waimarino-Waiouru Community Board (WWCB) is hoping the Raetihi and Ohakune communities have plenty of bright ideas for how amenity lighting can help beautify their townships.
WWCB Chairperson Luigi Hotter said that there was $5,000 available for Raetihi and $9,000 for Ohakune that had been allocated toward amenity lighting projects such as fairy lights, up-lights and spot lights.
The Community Board would like suggestions on where new amenity lighting should be placed in both towns and the type of lighting that should be used, he said.
Using fairy lights or up-lights in trees or spot lights to highlight architectural or other iconic features around a town can have a really amazing impact.
The use of coloured lighting can also really add to the effect with modern LED lighting being able to change colour which would be great at different times of the year such as Matariki or Christmas.
Mr Hotter said that Community Board was intending to discuss amenity lighting for Raetihi and Ohakune at their meeting on Thursday 1 November which is being held in Raetihi.
We would like to invite community groups and others to share their ideas at the meeting or alternatively if they are unable to attend to send them into Council at [email protected] or via the Council website:
