Mountains to Sea rider survey aims to improve the Trail experience
Riders on the Mountains to Sea Cycle Trail (the Trail) this summer are being asked to share how they found it via a survey to help improve the overall Trail experience.
Anyone riding any of the Trail sections including the Old Coach Road, Fishers Track, Mangapura Track, Kaiwhakauka Track and the Whanganui River Road can take part and will go into a monthly draw to win either cycle books or a $50 prezi card.
Survey Coordinator Gemma Bishop said that the survey aims to capture peoples' feelings and insights on all aspects of the Trail including supporting services, information, accommodation, hospitality, transfers, etc. and the Trail ride itself.
The survey can be completed online at www.getsmartglobal.com/mountainstosea as well as copies being available at the i-SITE, Council office, with service providers or riders can look out for me out on the Trail sections over summer, she said.
The data provides an invaluable resource that helps to inform trail management and service decisions for anyone with a stake in the Trails long term success.
It also provides benchmarking data so we can measure improvements and compare performance with other Great Rides.
Ms Bishop said that the survey which was a requirement for all of NZ's Great Rides which to have a minimum of 100 completed surveys per year on each of the 22 Great Ride cycle trails throughout NZ.
Last year Mountains to Sea didn't quite get to the minimum 100 completed surveys and we would like to see this target exceeded each and every year.
We are asking anyone involved in providing services to Trail riders to encourage people to take a quick five minutes to either go online or pick-up a paper copy and complete it.
As the official trial manager for the Mountains to Sea Trail, Ruapehu Council is keen to move to a stage where we can gain and share these results in terms of visitor origin, satisfaction and rider behaviour to anyone with a stake in the Trails long term success.
Ultimately it is about understanding how Trail operators can offer the best experience possible.
