Situation
- From 6am on Sunday 28 February 2021 Auckland is at Alert Level 3.
- The rest of the country including Ruapehu district is at Alert Level Two.
- This is initially for 7 days (until Sunday 7 March).
Alert Level 2 for Ruapehu and the rest of New Zealand except Auckland
- Businesses and schools remain open but public health guidance including physical distancing and record keeping need to be maintained.
- Mass gatherings will need to be limited to 100 people.
- Hospitality businesses must keep groups of customers separated, seated, and served by a single person with a maximum of 100 people at a time
- Keep physical distancing of 2 metres from people you don't know when out in public.
- Keep 1 metre physical distancing in controlled environments like workplaces, where practical.
- Use the NZ COVID Tracer app to record where you go or sign in if you can't use the app.
- Wash your hands.
- Wear a face covering if you are in an enclosed space like on public transport.
- Stay home if you are sick or vulnerable.
- Hospitality businesses must keep groups of customers separated, seated and served by a single person.
- Gatherings of up to 100 people are allowed for wedding services, funerals, and tangihanga.

Golden rules for businesses at Alert Level 2 (all of New Zealand except Auckland)
- At Alert Level 2, business premises can open for staff and customers provided they meet public health requirements. Business premises can open for staff and customers provided they meet public health requirements and follow the following golden rules:
- Reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission at work.
- All businesses can operate if they can do so safely. Alternative ways of working are encouraged where possible.
- Talk with your staff to identify risks and ways to manage them.
- Ask everyone, workers, contractors and customers, with cold or flu-like symptoms to stay away from your premises.
- Keep groups of customers at least 1 metre apart, or 2 metres for retail businesses.
- Keep contact tracing records of anyone who will have close interaction e.g. staff, contractors or customers. Retail businesses are not required to keep contact tracing records.
- All businesses must display a government issued QR code for use with the NZ COVID Tracer App by 19 August
- Face coverings are strongly encouraged if you are in close contact with others.
- Reduce the number of shared surfaces, and regularly disinfect them.

Travel within New Zealand Aotearoa
- Anyone wanting to travel between Alert Level 3 and Alert Level 2 regions needs to check whether they are eligible to travel between different areas of the country.
- Work-related travel: If you need to travel for work or business reasons, you will need to go to the MBIE website to check if you need to make an application.
- Personal travel: If you need to travel for personal reasons, you may need to make an application to the Ministry of Health. We will shortly update our website with instructions on how to do this.
