The Taumarunui Reuse Shop is back open for usual business following its recent renovations.
Sustainability Facilitator Emily Jasmine is looking forward to seeing the Reuse Shop customers back again.
“I can’t wait to see all our lovely customers again supporting the Reuse Shop and our Zero Waste 2040 vision along with all the amazing projects they are creating out of our products” she says.
The Reuse shop has been closed on and off since April while we undertook several upgrades including the installation of safety fences around the shop, a base to build a shed and gravel around the carpark.
Unfortunately, due to the weather and a few other issues we were unable to get the car park sealed. This will now take place over summer.
Despite the interruptions for the renovations when we did open, we managed to divert 3206 kgs from landfill and rehomed 2,742 items which made $4,225. 40 to be reinvested in further improvements.
Thanks again to our fantastic volunteers who have made our progress to date possible.
I want to give a very special thanks to the community and customers for their ongoing patience and understanding during this time,” she said.
The Taumarunui Reuse Shop operating hours are:
Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 10:00am – 5:00pm and Sunday 1:00pm – 5:00pm. The shop is closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
